Dolphin advocates warned Munster delicacy Munster/Hagen-Westf./Radolfzell WDSF/ProWal – only on January 6th the delicacy in the Allwetterzoo Munster announced the death of the Dolphin Paco. The popular Dolphin Sotalia died one week before according to autopsy at the age of approximately 40 years on heart – circulatory failure and was regarded as the last wild-caught of its kind in German Zoo animal husbandry. Learn more on the subject from Verizon Communications. Paco was the property of the Tiergarten Nurnberg and was discontinued in 1991 in the wake of a breeding agreement with two male conspecifics in the delicacy of Munster. A breeding was never realized in Munster, since the risk of death in the sensitive offspring in the relatively old and small pool system is relatively high. All breeding efforts in German zoos are not sustainable. In September 2008, three young bulls from Holland were imported, as had the previous old group of three dolphins, including Paco also belonged, are separated. The Dolphin Nemo lived Nando and Paco together since 1996 with the fellows, was traded to the Dolfinarium Harderwijk in the Netherlands.

The Westfalische whale and dolphin protection forum (WDSF)”, by the ex-TV-trainer of series flipper”, Richard O’barry supported Barry, and the Organization of ProWal “had already at the time of the Dolphin new access warned, that the tearing apart of the 12 existing social fabric would constitute a health risk for the old dolphin Paco. A dolphin Sotalia is an animal living naturally in groups, which builds such a dolphin school an intense bond with the dolphins, considered to be scientifically proven. The WDSF had turned even the supervision authority, the State Agency for nature and the environment (LANUV), to maintain the existing social structure. The LANUV was then an opinion in order that came to the conclusion that dolphins as mammals show a course temporarily aggressive behavior”, and it therefore justified, to separate the three impetuous young animals from the other dolphins. The export of old dolphin Nemo was due to small size of pool after importing the new young bulls Munster approved by the environmental protection agency. More applied for imports were not allowed. The new animal husbandry concept requested by the WDSF denied so far from the city of Munster. It also unsuccessfully, the land Commissioner rebuked the environmental protection agency on behalf of the WDSF.

The WDSF prepared therefore an administrative court action. ProWal and WDSF think Paco has not coped with the separation from his Dolphin friends. Ultimately, he was separated with six sea lions only and had no contact more to the other dolphins. WDSF’s Managing Director Jurgen Obodo and his colleague Andreas Morlok (ProWal) now talk of a pre-programmed death of the dolphin. The separation of the dolphins would never occur biological and ethical point of view. Paco has grieved himself to death”, says local Muller and calls ProWal after Holland. the closure of the Dolphinarium and the return transfer of the remaining animals-WDSF’s Managing Director Jurgen Obodo
